He candidly describes the sexual and emotional abuse that marked his childhood, and the coping behaviors that became the seeds of his painful disease. Schwartz then leads the reader through the dangerous progression of his behaviors that mark this painful disease, one that is often neglected by caregivers and poorly understood by the general public.

The circumstances that brought Schwartz to the awareness of his condition and his courage to do whatever it takes for his recovery are an important addition to the body of work of sex addiction and recovery. This book is not be missed by anyone who wishes to be truly informed about this issue. Inspiring and riveting!

Sex Addiction, a shameful, family destroying disease... that there is hope for recovery and a meaningful life after the pain. L.J. Schwartz shows us exactly that in his gut renching memoir of his life as a sex addict.

LJ shares with us his story of pain, sexual abuse and a life of self destruction. He also shares his "spiritual awakening" and his path down sexual recovery.

I recommend Out of Bondage to any addict or family member that wants a deeper understanding of this secret shrouded disease
and the abilty to recovery from it to live a life of peace and serenity. LJ shows us it is possible to have a daily reprieve from sexual compulsions.

Excellent Book - Well Written About the Disease and Recovery of Sex Addiction, February 2, 2010

This book chronicles the author's sex addiction and eventual journey into recovery. His story is his story yet it captures the essence of the disease of sex addiction, the progression, the unmanageability, and the powerlessness. He courageously shares everything with us so that we can understand the pain associated with this disease and the depths that we sink to despite the consequences. Reading this story when I did helped me better understand myself and my own journey. It has helped me to understand a life of addiction that I no longer desire and a life of recovery that I want to embrace. Excellent reading and I recommend it for anyone wanting to recover from sexual addiction or anyone wanting to understand the disease of sexual addiction. This book will help you.

I feel blessed to of read OUT OF BONDAGE. As a fellow sex addict, I was able to relate, empathize and really feel the power and force of sex addiction's pull and power.I was impressed with all the great details and stories, as I myself,have a difficult time remembering all the trying and difficult times. I admire the journal readings and being able to read from his journal entry and then read his present day entries while being a recovering sex addict. For me, It was easy to read and I suggest this book for anyone who is a sex addict, for any co-sex addicts and family and friends who want to make sense out of a very powerful and scary addiction. OUT OF BONDAGE is one man's journey through addiction, sprituality and finding peace in the aftermath of active sex addiction. The book begins with childhood and takes you to present day truths. As you read through the memoir, you come to a better understanding of the cause or reasons behind how the sex addiction manifest itself into the core of a persons heart.

I feel blessed to call the author my friend and will continue to support, encourage and admire the courage and determination to put one's journey down on paper!!!!A very intense and powerful book....very much like sex addiction!
